Valley Behavioral Health Attending Clinician, DBT in Salt Lake City, Utah

We are seeking a dedicated Attending Clinician to help with our DBT Day Treatment Program. DBT Day Treatment is a program working with youth ages 12-17 who experience severe emotional disturbances. The purpose of the program is to help these teens acquire skills to manage emotions and behavior through learning and utilizing DBT skills. The team at DBT Day Treatment team is dedicated to providing services to teens with some of the greatest needs in developing skills to help them succeed at school, home and in the community.

Schedule: Full-Time 8:00am – 5:00pm

Pay: Depending on Experience

  • Provide Individual and Family therapy, 2 sessions a week for each client

  • Complete mental health assessments and do case management as needed

  • Facilitate DBT group one time a week plus additional groups as needed

  • Take calls for the After Hours DBT Coaching Line in the evenings and on weekends

  • Crisis assessment and assistance

  • Review all referrals and provide information to the community in regards to the program

  • Supervision of DBT program staff including therapist and line staff

  • Supervision of other therapists within Valley Behavioral Health Children’s Outpatient Services

  • Lead staff meeting and address any concerns in the program

  • Address behavioral concerns on the unit and complete behavior plans to address

  • As supervisor address concerns or frustrations that parents or teens may have

  • Work in the milieu as needed including when other staff are using PTO

  • Provide training for staff in regards to DBT model, as well as for other Valley employees

  • Set up program during the summer when school is not provided

  • Work with community providers including those involved daily with the program

  • Train new employees in areas specific to the program

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counselor, or Marriage and Family Therapy

  • Minimum licensure current in the state of Utah: CMHC, ACMHC, LCSW, CSW or LMFT

  • 4000 hours post-graduate supervision for full licensure preferred

  • Training and experience in the DBT modality is required for this position

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in a mental health program, and/or with kids who experience mental health and behavioral issues is preferred
