This positionensures compliance with all local, state and federal OSHA regulations, along with company and client safety policies and requirements.
Conducts safety orientation for all new hire employees
Conducts safety audits, documents audits and is part of the solution for corrective actions
Trains employees on site specific hazards, fall protection, aerial lifts and conducts tool box talks as required
Maintains current and accurate MSDS file for all materials on site
Ensures that corrective action is initiated by foremen responsible for that area, and provides assistance as needed
Previous steel erection experience and ability to work effectively with tradesmen is a MUST
Evaluates hazardous conditions and works with supervision to eliminate the hazards; Maintains safety compliance within OSHA, Company & Client standards.
Provides technical assistance to supervision on safety related matters
Conduct accident and near miss investigations as necessary
Prepare review and update JSA's as necessary
Conduct and review daily Pre Task assignments
Maintain a positive pro-active relationship with employees, supervision, management and client personnel
Promote a positive safety culture with all employees; Conduct OSHA 10 & 30 hour training as needed

Required qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) to perform essential functions of this position:
Problem Solving Skills
Critical and Analytical Thinking
Understanding of OSHA standards, in particular; Steel Erection, fall protection, cranes, rigging, and heavy construction
Knowledge of PPE, HAZCOM, Confined Space, and Fall Protection procedures
Proven ability to train large multiple groups of employees
Knowledge of OSHA, ADOSH, Cal OSHA, and EPA rules and regulations.
Knowledge of rigging, cranes & steel construction (Subpart R)
Knowledge of all other applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Five (5) years of related experience as a safety professional in a commercial construction environment.
As outlined in the Core Competencies, an individual must have thorough knowledge and an advanced understanding of each competency outlined above in order to carry out the essential functions of this position. Specialized Knowledge is also required in the following areas: OSHA 500 certification preferred, First Aid/CPR certified, EM 385-1 experience preferred.
Software & Technology
Position will require the frequent use of MS Windows 7 and/or MS Windows 10, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, and MS Outlook. Blue Beam PDF Software; Concur Software for expenses or applicable software.
Position requires as many hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions. Working long days including evenings and weekends can be required for this position. Position may require air/road travel as needed. A clean driving record will be required due to required road travel. Current and valid driver's license and proof of acceptable insurance is required. This position is outdoors. Therefore, being subject to extreme heat conditions can be expected.
